Delivery of Necessary Diabetic Supplies

HB 53 strengthens diabetes-related requirements for New Mexico health insurers by mandating consistent coverage of diabetes supplies, equipment, appliances, and self-management and nutrition therapy, while ensuring timely delivery of these medically necessary resources. It requires insurers to maintain adequate supplier networks, monitor delivery performance, and reimburse members when delays force them to pay out of pocket, including interest on late payments. The bill also establishes a quarterly statutory data call requiring insurers to report reimbursement demands, delivery failures, and related complaints to the Office of the Superintendent of Insurance.
