The Office of the Superintendent of Insurance makes this material available to interested parties to inform ongoing work and to avoid duplication of effort on previously studied issues. In 2023 OSI contracted the University of New Mexico, Center for Social Policy to administer the first New Mexico Health Access Survey (NMHAS) to address the state to have state-specific information on New Mexicans’ access to healthcare services, the percentage of the population with health insurance, public perception of the affordability, access, and quality of the services they receive. While there are national surveys that address these issues, proportional sampling for sub-state-level coverage is limited in the context of national surveys, and data for this sub-state level may be unreliable. Contracted and External Reports These reports were prepared by independent contractors, and the Office of the Superintendent of Insurance provides them for informational purposes only. The findings, conclusions, and recommendations expressed herein are those of the contractors and do not necessarily reflect the views, policies, or positions of the Office of Superintendent of Insurance.
