• Continuing Education (CE)

For Licensees:

Before renewing the resident Adjuster and Producer License (excluding limited lines licensees) 24 credit hours of CEs must completed total (21 General 3 Ethics). This also applies to any licensee who has selected NM as the home state. Non-residents adjusters who live in a state that does not have a CE requirement must complete the 24 hours required with a NM approved Provider or any other reciprocal jurisdiction.

If you’re a resident, you can find out which of your CE courses have been reported by logging into SBS. Please see “Find your transcripts”.

Only the hours in the “Credit Hours” column count toward the CE total.

CE credit is applied only to courses taken during the current renewal period. The renewal period begins the day after the expiration date until the next expiration date. If a course is taken outside of that time period, the licensee will not receive credit for those CEs.

Once the licensee has completed the CE credit hours (if they are a resident or DHS licensee), they must still submit the renewal application through NIPR.

**Note** Providers have up to 10 days to report completed hours on behalf of the licensee. Once banked, the licensee must wait 24 hours before they will be able to submit the renewal application.  We strongly encourage the licensee to complete the required hours a minimum of 90 days prior to license expiration.

Licensees generally have 24 months (2 years) to complete all required continuing education before the license expiration date. Failure to timely complete CE hours will result in a $50.00 penalty before we process the renewal application. Licensees will also be required to complete a new background check and additional late renewal penalties will be applied to the renewal application.

For more information on licensing renewals for individuals please see “Individual Renewal Instructions” listed under “Individual” on the licensing landing page.
