Despite these trends, New Mexico has not had any oversight of transactions that result in a change of control of New Mexico hospitals and other health care practices. Research shows that these kinds of transactions are associated with higher costs and could result in reduced access to certain essential services. During the 2024 session, the State Legislature enacted Senate Bill 15 to give the New Mexico Office of Superintendent of Insurance (OSI) oversight of certain transactions involving hospitals through June 30, 2025, with the expectation that public and stakeholder feedback would be gathered over the year to develop additional legislation for the 2025 session. OSI is holding public feedback sessions in communities throughout the state and welcomes participation from all New Mexicans who are concerned about this important issue. Click here to be added to OSI’s distribution list. By registering, you will receive information and notices from OSI regarding health care consolidation oversight feedback sessions. To submit comments for consideration or to request additional information, please email OSI.Consolidation@state.nm.us. OSI will hold public meetings throughout the state throughout the Summer of 2024 to seek public feedback on this issue. Please see the schedule below of when and where each public meeting will take place. Click here to find the videos of the Public Meetings.
